Redborne is a successful school on a spacious and pleasant campus near the market town of Ampthill in Bedfordshire. We achieve excellent examination results with about three-quarters of students typically gaining Maths and English at grades 9 – 4. ‘A’ Level results are also very good with over half at ‘A*’, ‘A’ or ‘B’ grades and an overall pass rate of 99.9%. About 80% of the Sixth Form go on to university and each year a number of students get into Oxbridge. The school is well regarded, oversubscribed and situated in a very pleasant area of Central Bedfordshire, within easy reach of London. The campus includes a state-of-the-art 400-seat theatre and Sixth Form social area.

SCIENCE LAB TECHNICIAN

• Start Date: April 2026 (or as soon as possible)
• Fixed term until 17^th July 2026
• Contract hours: Part-time - 15 hours per week worked over 3 days. The hours are negotiable and can be mutually agreed at interview.
• Term-time only + 3 training days
• Salary: Level 2D (Point 4-6)
• Actual Salary Range: £8,693.00 – £8,971.00 (dependent on experience)

Are you a meticulous organiser with a passion for science? We are seeking a dedicated Science Lab Technician to join our Science Department.

As a vital member of our support staff, you will help ensure that our labs and equipment are safe and our students have everything teachers and students need for science lessons.

About the Role

This is an exciting and varied role. You will play a vital part in preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons and exams and providing assistance where needed. You will work with a team of technicians to monitor stock levels and maintain a safe laboratory environment in line with regulations.
