Is Redborne a nut-free school?

While the safety of students with severe nut allergies is a top priority, declaring a school to be 100% "Nut-Free" is an impractical goal. The school is committed to rigorous risk minimisation but cannot guarantee zero allergen presence due to several factors. A school the size of Redborne makes it statistically impossible to check every single item or person for trace allergens. In terms of exposure, students, staff and visitors consume foods and are exposed to allergens before arriving on the school site. Trace allergens can easily be carried into the building on clothing, backpacks or hands, even if no nut products are consumed while on the school site. It is logistically unfeasible for school staff to inspect every single lunchbox, snack and food item brought in by students daily. This would require dedicated staffing resources that schools cannot provide. The cooperation of parents/carers in not sending nut products to school with their child to help us reduce risk is greatly appreciated.

Any products sold in our canteens are clearly labelled but if you or your child has any concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Payment system for Canteens

All our canteens are now cashless. The system is part of WisePay, our online cashless payment provider.  Authorisation for payments will be via a biometric (fingerprint) system. Further information can be found in the documents below.
