Rotary Young Chef Competition 2018
Young Redborne chefs shine in this annual competition.
“Everyone’s a winner,” were the words of the judges before the students took to the kitchen at the district finals on Saturday 25th February in Hitchin.
Georgia won the school heat of the rotary young chef competition with three outstanding dishes and exceptional planning. With only a few days to practice her skills and perfect her presentation, she also had to cost her three course meal and analyse the nutritional content to ensure it came within the £15 budget and met the healthy eating criteria.
Georgia did herself and our school proud with her calm composure and great organisation throughout the competition, not letting the pressure get to her. Her dishes were served without fault, her dessert in particularly being commented on by the judges.
It had been a strong field within the school round with nine students from year 10 competing. They produced a wide variety of dishes, showcasing their skills. The judges, a manager from Waitrose, a local chef and Members of the Ampthill rotary club were impressed with the standard of the dishes and their creative flair. Producing three high class restaurant standard dishes in two hours is no easy task. A huge congratulations to them all.
