With the focus now shifting in educational thinking towards teachers engaging in their own research, an inaugural evidence based practice group, the Teaching and Learning Club, or TALC, began last year. The group comprised our research lead and eight members of staff, predominantly RQTs. We met every so often to chat about the focuses of our research . Meaty topics included marking and feedback, mindset and teaching students with additional needs. Participants gained a great deal from joining our little group . There was the opportunity to work alongside others, from the same subject area or even from the other side of our large school, to refine practice, to reflect on educational thinking and pedagogy, and to discuss ideas with others, building confidence in educational research and in sharing evidence. Several of the group took up the challenge of presenting their findings to teaching staff in the summer term. Below, you will find examples of participants’ presentations.
