Work Experience

All Year 10 students do two weeks Work Experience.
This will take place between 28th March and 8th April 2011

Students have either organised their Own Lead through family or friends or the School have found a School Lead. Students can go anywhere within England and Wales but going outside Bedfordshire will result in a charge from the appropriate county for carrying out Health and Safety checks. Charges are currently between £30 and £50 (approximately).

Students who return their completed Log Books within two weeks of returning to school after Work Experience will receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze Certificate. Members of staff visit employers and students during the second week. Employers outside Bedfordshire are not visited but are telephoned instead.

Students should approach popular employers at the start of Year 10. Local schools, hair and beauty salons and vets always fill up very quickly. Unfortunately Bedfordshire Police no longer take Work Experience students. Doctors, dentists, hospitals, physiotherapists etc rarely take Work Experience students. School Leads in IT and Design are extremely limited so students should approach employers themselves. A letter and information leaflet with more information is sent home to parents at the start of Year 10.
