We offer a variety of advice and guidance to support student choices for careers at different stages of their time at Redborne. These include:

 

Year 9 – Introduction to Kudos, careers software and support with options choices as well as how to plan for the future.

Year 10 - the main careers work done in year 10 is centred around Work Experience and how it can inform future choices. Work Experience will take place between Monday 24 June 2013 and Friday 5 July 2013 for Year 10 students. Planning for the future is also included in Year 10 Personal Wellbeing lessons.

 

Year 11 – information about choices post GCSE including opportunities for Modern Apprenticeship schemes. Staff from outside agencies are invited to speak to groups of students wishing to explore these and other options.

 

Year 12 and 13 applying for further and higher education, UCAS. A range of university trips and a trip to a Higher Education Fair are available.  There will also be a Higher Education Finance information evening with a guest speaker on Thursday 7/3/13 in Redborne school hall.  Year 13 are invited to come along at 6.30 pm and Year 12 at 7.15 pm.

 

Seminars out of school are available from time to time to give students from different year groups information about different career choices.

 

Students in all years can have a careers interview here in school to discuss their options and choices. To do this they can request via their form tutor, or other member of staff, or self-refer using the request box in the library. These interviews are with Katrina Armstrong from Develop EBP who will give independent professional careers advice to students including follow up sessions where appropriate. The interviews take place in the careers office which is situated at the back of the school library. Students will be given suggestions to continue their future planning after the interview in the form of an Action Plan. Katrina Armstrong also offers information to groups of students on specific topics related to careers and future planning.

 

Students are directed to the wealth of careers advice which is available via the internet and in particular to the Kudos software which can be a very useful tool for students seeking information.
